Jacksonville ASP.NET SIG: Creating Data-Driven Applications in Silverlight 2.0 and ASP.NET Membership Roles

Join the Jacksonville ASP.NET Developer Group on Thursday, March 13th, 2008 for two presentations: Creating Data-Driven Applications in Silverlight 2.0 and Using ASP.NET Membership Roles in your Pages.

Creating data-driven applications in Silverlight 2.0: a walk-through

In this session, Eugene will take a look at the rich user interface and programmability model offered in Silverlight 2.0 Alpha Release. Using a walk-through approach, the presentation will touch on all of the steps necessary to construct a data-driven application in Silverlight. Eugene will identify the tools and skills needed to start building applications in Silverlight 2.0, look at the advantages and disadvantages of Silverlight over comparable technologies, as well as identify how and where Silverlight fits into the current and future technology decks. User participation is encouraged, so please bring all of your (easy) Silverlight questions to this session.

Using ASP.NET Membership Roles in your Pages

This hour will find Thomas presenting an overview of the ASP.NET Membership API, focusing on the Role Provider, its basic wiring and what's required to make it work. The samples and example code will be used to demonstrate how to limit access by role to pages and controls in a site.
